A Christmas card shop where all money goes to charity has opened its door ahead of the festive season. Esther helped launch the event and visited the pop up shop to stock up on cards and small gifts.
The shop based in Wilmslow library sees charities come together to sell their cards and also benefit from a share of extra money raised from gifts being sold by the organisers.
Ms McVey said: "I am always pleased to visit this shop and support our wonderful charities as well as chat to the volunteers who work hard to raise all the money they can.
"It is always busy and I am delighted I bought my cards and some other bits ahead of Christmas which will be being wrapped and put under my tree.
"It is an amazing local initiative started by Sheila Hallas MBE and I think other areas around the country should look at what she has done and set up their own shops. Many people buy cards to send to family and friends so it is great we can do this as well as support a charity or charities.”
The event is in its 48th year and has raised more than £5 million for the combined charities.
Once all costs such as hall hire have been met anything else sold is split between the charities. Each charity also receives all of the money raised from their cards.
